i was thinking about that post comparing Jessica Rabbit as an asexual to Barbie and an asexual and then i thought of the Neil Gaiman post (was it a post?) about Crowley and Aziraphale being asexual and then this happened.

i think it’s silly to be ashamed of your art because it’s not in a museum and of your voice because it’s not selling out stadiums. there will always be people who enjoy and appreciate what you can do.

Idk why but this hit me really hard and I’ve been staring at it for a couple minutes.

I think something crucial about hobie that people are already ignoring is that he’s silly. he’s a silly guy. he hypes up his friends and makes stupid jokes and honestly from what we’ve seen he’s very physically affectionate. please don’t forget how silly he is

His writing in the movie is such a level-up. In the comics he’s not a bad guy, but he’s extremely intense. Here, they make very clear that opposing a corrupt system doesn’t mean you have to be a joyless person. He loves good people just as much as he’s down to fight the bad ones. He’s at 10 all the time, in either direction, and it’s perfect.

Framing “girl” and “boy” as separate genders from “woman” and “man” is such an amazing take. it’s a framework that accommodates and explains so many trans experiences. Some trans people never were their AGAB. Some feel like they were their AGAB, but that that changed (usually when puberty hits, which is when you start “becoming a man/woman”. The accepted societal path is that girls grow up to into women, and boys grow up into men. But some girls grow up into men, and some boys grow up into women. This guy was a boy who grew up into a man, which generally works out pretty well for people. Some boys and girls grow up into people who aren’t men or women, even! It’s like this random cis guy skipped right over transgender 101, 102, 201, etc. and stumbled directly into Transgender Nirvana.
